"Majik unmetered is majik unmade" is the Meridian Authority's founding axiom, and the game treats it as a premise to be tested rather than a slogan on a loading screen. A government that has never once been told no is a more durable antagonist than a monster, because the player cannot kill it.
02. 02. TURN-BASED, SO THE COST IS LEGIBLE
Turn-based combat makes the price of every casting visible at the moment it is paid. In a story about metered magic, a real-time system would hide the exact thing the fiction is about.
